Problem upgrading to Azure SDK 2.2

I’ve recently been upgrading one of my projects to the latest Windows Azure SDK 2.2. The upgrade seemed to be going well until I came across the following error when reloading the solution in Visual Studio 2013:

The 'CctSharedPackage' package did not load correctly

I found various solutions on Google but some of them involved the un-installing and re-installing the SDK or even Visual Studio! In the end the simplest solution that worked first time for me was to add the new version of Azure Diagnositics to the GAC. In my case this DLL can be found in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Azure Tools\Visual Studio 12.0\2.2\VsDiagnostics

So I simply ran the following via a command prompt from within that directory:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v8.1A\bin\NETFX 4.5.1 Tools\x64\gacutil.exe" /i .\Microsoft.VisualStudio.WindowsAzure.Diagnostics.dll

Here’s the original blog post from Stefan Camilleri that helped me solve the problem.
